Gifted Education

Adult with two happy studentsIn Hanover County, we provide a program of quality instruction with high expectations for student achievement. We recognize the importance of the diversity, dignity, and self-worth of an individual and seek to provide an atmosphere where the intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth of all students is fostered with a dedication to providing an education that challenges the exceptional abilities of our gifted students.

We believe that learning is a continuous experience. We have a responsibility to provide each student with the opportunity to realize his/her potential and to develop the skills to fulfill his/her goals in our interdependent society.

At Beaverdam Elementary School, education for the gifted is based on the following principles:

  • Gifted students need opportunities to interact with all students.
  • Gifted students need opportunities to interact with other gifted students.
  • Gifted students need opportunities to pursue their particular interests and to share the results of these pursuits.

BES Learns at Home

I have prepared and collected these activities in the link below to offer your child enrichment activities while they are learning at home. Please understand that these are not intended to be treated as mandatory lessons that must be completed.

It is my hope that these activities will give your family opportunities to reinforce, enrich, and stay engaged in the many areas they are already studying. Continue to encourage your children to stretch their brains, use their inquisitive nature, and to enjoy this time of learning. I am here to support you!

There is an opportunity for you to share your results, attempts, and products with me on each topic! I will provide feedback to any response I receive, plus your child will be an expert at using this learning tool next year! Each week I will add more digital breakouts, puzzles, and activities to this link, so check back often!
