February 15, 2023 Update:
Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are having a wonderful week. We are writing today to share with you an update on our Comprehensive Plan.
At its meeting last night, the Hanover County School Board
received a draft of our 2023-29 Comprehensive Plan (formerly known as the Long Range Plan). Once approved, this plan will guide our work over the next six years to ensure that we continue to uphold our longstanding Tradition of Excellence by providing students with an exceptional educational experience.
Community Input
The input provided by our students, faculty, staff, and community was instrumental in the development of the draft Comprehensive Plan. As we move forward with the plan’s development, we are again seeking input on the draft. The School Board and the committees working on the plan would like to hear your thoughts and ideas for improving or expanding the goals, objectives and strategies detailed in the survey.
In an effort to collect as much input as possible, we encourage you to complete this survey to provide feedback on the draft plan. Please note that the survey opens today and will remain open through Tuesday, February 28.
We greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey.
Next Steps
Once the survey closes at the end of the month, the Comprehensive Plan executive and steering committees – two groups that are comprised of division leaders as well as representatives from our schools and departments that have helped lead this process – will review the input and revise the draft plan as needed.
The Comprehensive Plan is expected to be on the agenda of the School Board’s business meeting on Tuesday, March 14 for first read before an expected vote at the School Board’s Tuesday, April 11 meeting.
Stay Up-to-Date
As a reminder, we have built
this webpage to help you stay up-to-date on the status of the Comprehensive Plan. We will continue to send you significant updates throughout the development process. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email
[email protected].
Thank you in advance for your participation and for your ongoing support of our work.

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are having a wonderful week. We are writing today to share with you an update on our Comprehensive Plan.
As a school division, we are currently undergoing the development of our next Comprehensive Plan (formerly known as the Long Range Plan), a plan that will guide our work over the next six years to ensure that we continue to uphold our longstanding Tradition Of Excellence by providing students with an exceptional educational experience. At its meeting last night, the School Board
received an update on the plan’s development, including a timeline for the process and opportunities for additional community input.
Mark Your Calendar
We will hold a series of community input open houses next month to give you an opportunity to contribute your perspective to the plan’s development. The sessions will be held as follows:
- Thursday, November 10 at 6 p.m. at Mechanicsville High School
- Wednesday, November 16 at 6 p.m. at Patrick Henry High School
- Thursday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Hanover High School
- Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. at Atlee High School
All sessions will be held in the respective high school’s library. Please note that you may attend any of the four sessions, regardless of your zoned high school. In addition to the facilitator-led sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to complete a Google Form to share additional thoughts.
Stay Up-to-Date
Over the next several months, there will be many developments as it relates to the Comprehensive Plan. We value transparency and have created
this webpage to help you stay up-to-date on the status of the Comprehensive Plan, most notably in the spring as a draft of the plan is released, an additional public comment period is held, and the School Board considers the plan.
We, of course, will send you major updates throughout the development process. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to email
[email protected].
Thank you in advance for your participation and for your ongoing support of our work.
